Built in the spring of 1872, The Freight House was the first building constructed for the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad branch. This line serviced freight and passengers from Golden's Bridge to Grand Central Terminal for more than 50 years. Almost exactly 100 years later, I was born into this little hamlet of Carmel with a dream to one day serve my community through food. This incredible building fell on me like a block of kept frozen in saw dust. (which is how local milk was kept cold while being transported to NYC) So I hopped aboard. With support of family, friends and local businesses, my dream became a reality. I welcome you to share in a piece of history, savor a hot cup of coffee or a nice glass of wine and some homemade food. Sit, relax and enjoy Mahopac like never before.
With great appreciation and much love,
Donna Massaro
